Coaching Authentically: Your Story is a Part of HIStory

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Isn’t it amazing to think that the God who created the Heavens and the Earth knew each one of us before we were even born? Before we were even the human beings we are today, God created each one of us for a very unique purpose.

He made us exactly who we are to fulfill that divine purpose – our personality traits, our physical body, our talents and even our weaknesses. Since we each have different purposes, we each have been created differently to fulfill them.

But our stories are not random or unrelated to one another. In fact, each of our stories are a part of His greater story. He can (and does) use all of our life stories – both positive and negative – for His greater good.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” -Romans 8:28 (NIV)

If your clients have ever wondered if they are really making a difference with their lives or if they struggle with finding their purpose, remind them that their story, in and of itself, is part of a greater plan.

For no matter what our story is, no matter how painful or messy, God never wastes it. He can take even the worst of circumstances and turn them into good.

And when He does, He doesn’t want us to keep it to ourselves. He wants us to share it with others!

Return home and tell how much God has done for you. So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.” -Luke 8:39

Just like the man whose demons Jesus cast out in Luke 8:39, we are meant to go out and tell others about what Jesus has done in our lives.

It’s how our story becomes part of HIS story.
What part of your story can God use to reach others?

Are you sharing your story with others or keeping it to yourself?
